Keep a good tight fitting lid, killifish are known to jump out of the aquarium. Even through the smallest of holes in an aquarium hood.

Don't feed fry flake food. killifish fry are small and require live foods such as newly hatched brine shrimp nauplii and even smaller foods such as nematodes (microworms & vinegar eels).

Silly Killies started in the summer of 2006 when Paul decided to retire. After about a week or so, he was ready to get back to work. Paul has always had fish since he was a young boy. He started with Killifish and went to Discus, Angels, and Saltwater. At one time, he had a 600 gallon salt water reef aquarium. When the aquarium was ready for fish and corals, his words were “Surf’s Up” and it was--with 3000 gallons of water pumping through the aquarium every hour.

Paul remembered that raising killies required patience and was a rewarding challenge to see the eggs hatch and the fry grow into beautiful killifish. He started with eight tanks in the summer of 2006. Soon the tanks started taking over the house. We have thousands of killies available in fish, eggs and fry.

Paul spends hours each day collecting eggs, moving and feeding fry and fish, cleaning worms and most importantly changing water. Changing water is as important to raising healthy killies as “location, location, location" is to a realtor.
His wife, Deb (who also has a full time job), handles all the administrative duties such as the auctions on Aquabid, developing and updating this web page, contacting customers of wins, collecting money and getting the envelopes and boxes ready for shipping. Plus ordering the blackworms and baby brine shrimp.

You are the best!! I missed the first delivery from the post office and picked them up a day later, expecting a box of dead fish (which would be my fault, not yours). But lo and behold I opened a box of of not just living fish, but thriving and vigorous killies! It was as if I just fished them out of my next door neighbors tank. Thanks a lot.
